Artist's Description

Motivation- this piece is meant to be used as a meditation, similar to the Buddhist concept of Maranasati. What that is, is using a visual representation to help guide thinking. For example the monks would use a deceased person’s corpse, and put it on display for people would be able to see it every day to show what happens to people when they die. How we go from our thinking, feeling, self important selves to basically mush.  We all become mush. Doesn’t matter how much money you make, with lesson to teach, what grudges you had, you become much. Therefore is it worth it to be pissed off at the guy that cut you off if you’re just getting pissed off at another pile of mush? What about being angry at somebody who lied to you, cheated you, or whatever. In the end they will be mush, and you will be mush as well. So what really matters? What are we doing with this life? It’s short and the choices you make today dictate exactly what your life is going to be. There is n...

Michael began his art career in high school, when his art became his way of communicating and expressing himself to other people. He received an art scholarship while in high school to attend Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, where he was able to participate in college level drawing classes. His specialty was portrait work, although he also did some sculpture. He took a quick break from art in 2001 and joined the army, where he became a combat medic.
